Welcome...

Welcome...

Herland Book-Café was opened on May 22, 1993, with Sun, Moon, and Mercury conjunct in Gemini on the Midheaven. Communication, networking, and being a Babe was in the stars.

The following recipes were developed over a six year period, in a tiny kitchen, using really basic equipment: blender, Cuisinart, crock pot, Kitchen Aide, toaster oven, and a microwave. They are fast, easy, and totally delicious. Our goal was to provide nourishing food in a fun, friendly atmosphere while radical activists, feminists, queers and all their cronies discussed revolution.

We had to close the café doors, but knew the quest for good salsa was as imperative as smashing imperialism: the recipe zine was born. Go forth, create your own revolution, be a Babe, nourish yourself, feast your spirit, feed your friends, and of course, feed yer mom!
